Little Girl Room Make Over

For Olivia's birthday this year, Michael and I re-did her room.  Her favorite things are pink, purple and princesses so we went with that.

Before:  (I forgot to take pics before we cleaned out her room and rearranged the furniture, but you can see the color and layout)

Amazing pink striped wallpaper.  This was pretty easy to do and we anticipate it was easier than paining stripes.

I saw this project of wrapping letters in yarn on pinterest and loved it.  It turned out very cute, but be warned....each letter takes about one hour!!

Got this cute princess step stool at Home Goods

She loves to sing so Daddy builty her a wooden stage.  We covered it in colored duct tape.  The curtains are made from a curved shower rod with regular window curtains on it.  The purple curtains are from Target. The tie backs are just cute ribbon.

Hooks for all of her princess dresses

Butterfly curtain rod from Bed, Bath & Beyond

Olivia supervising as Daddy puts her princess decals on the stage wall

All in all, we were very happy with how it came out.  It was exhausting to do in just a couple days, but it was well worth it to see how much she loves it.  The other night we were tucking her in bed to read a story and when she laid back on her pillow, she put her hands behind her head and said "this is the life!" hahaha still cracks me up!  Michael and I died laughing.  The things kids say.  Either way though, I am thrilled she loves her room and her bed now.

New Year Hike

My girl friends and I decided to start the new year off right by going on a hike in Malibu.  The hike was at Point Dume and we did about 5 miles.  It started off a bit cold, but as we went along it got warm and turned into a gorgeous day.

New Goals for the New Year

Instead of making resolutions, for the past three years of I have made a list of goals.  For 2014, I accomplished most of my goals.  The unaccomplished goals will be on my 2015 list and I will be adding a few more.

I like to set goals for myself in all aspects of my life to keep me heading in the direction I want to go.  My biggest goal last year was to "dare greatly."  You can read all about it here and here.  I feel like I took some risks in 2014 and I do feel like I dared greatly.  That is definitely something I want to continue with and keep in mind going forward.

While at church after Christmas, the pastor asked us to think about how we would describe 2014 in a nutshell and to think about the role Jesus played.  My 2014 in a nutshell was a year of healing and self-discovery.  Jesus played an active role, particularly in the healing process.  2014 was also a year of "new beginnings" for me.  You can read about that here and here.

I am not really sure what 2015 holds.  This year (in a couple weeks) I turn 29.  The number 9 in the bible symbolizes completeness or finality so perhaps 29 will be the end of one aspect of my life and completing another.  Time will tell.  Either way, I am the happiest I have been in years and I am hopeful that 2015 will be a joy-filled year.

Michael and I had a quiet NYE since he had to work NYE and NY day.  We did toast some mini champagne though!
