Buying a Home

Because we haven't taken on enough getting engaged, married, moving in together and getting pregnant in the first 8 months of our relationship, we also decided to sell Michael's home and buy a new, bigger one together.

I knew buying a home wouldn't be easy but I never expected it to be as hard as it was.  In all fairness, ours was particularly hellish.  Our lender pre-approved us to purchase our home without the sale of our current home being contingent.  We moved forward with purchasing our home and selling our current one.  Well, long story short, the sale of our home fell through right about the same time the lender realized he made a mistake and told us the sale and purchase needed to be contingent!

We had to re-list our home for sale and we thought we were going to lose our new home (and our deposit).  In the end we fought tooth and nail with our lender and negotiated with them until they agreed to give us our loan without selling our house concurrently.

We closed on our new home May 18 and our old home closed last week.  So I am pleased to report that it all worked out and we got our dream home!  I am so excited to start our new life together as a family here and to bring Henry home from the hospital to this house.

Here are some pictures.  Ill post more once we are more settled and have decorated.

Our favorite part about the house is the backyard.

Painting Olivia's room pink

Princess room!

Lots of lizards here...even in the fireplace!
Lizards on our skirts!

The new yard has fruits/vegetables including tomatoes, pumpkins, squash, herbs, figs, oranges, artichokes and bananas!

A giant walk in closet!!

Guest room with built in bookshelves for all my books!

The dogs love the new yard too.

Our pumpkins

Napping on our lawn

We also had RV parking built for our motorhome to live in!

We took advantage of the wet concrete to make our mark on the new house "Mike, Olivia, Chantal, Henry"

Now Michael is working on building us a built in BBQ and mini frige!  Thank goodness he is so handy!

Our banana grove

I cannot wait for these to ripen so I can try them!

We are so grateful for all of the help and support we had from our friends and family along the way.  This was a challenging process for us and we would never have been able to do it without them.  We feel so blessed.
